The Greenfield Recorder celebrated daylilies on Mother's Day weekend (Download Greenfield_Recorder_20170513_C08_1), along with three other species of flowers that were brought to Europe from Asia between the 16th and 19th centuries. (Amitav Ghosh's River of Smoke offers considerable detail on how this was done.) Our gardening columnist Pat Leuchtman also plugged the Olallie Daylily Garden in Vermont and Shelburne Falls' Bridge of Flowers.
